Geek Fest July 18-20: Magic the Gathering Events

Fri/Sat/Sun, all day, all CON    Commander Daily Champs for brackets 4 and 5 decks
Commander Daily champs brackets 4 & 5 have their own tables and prize pools. Entry is a $5 prize chip for category 4 and $10 for category 5. Competitive//high power commander players, this is for you. Pods and prize pools are split between brackets 4 and 5. When you register, you’ll get a chip to ante in your game. Whoever redeems the most chips by the end of the day gets 60% of the pot. 2nd place gets 30% of the pot, and 3rd place gets 10%. Players need not be present to win. Unlimited rebuys.

Fri/Sat/Sun, all day, all CON    Commander Free play for bracket 3 and under: 
Free play all day, registration required. These tables are meant for casual play, which largely includes decks from bracket 3 and below. Don’t know or care about brackets, no problem. Players get a token when they register, and the player who turns in the most tokens each day gets a fabulous prize. There’s a second-place prize, too.

Fri/Sat/Sun    all day all CON - $10 mystery jumpstart table (grab bags!)
$10 mystery jump start - Jumpstart is a fun, unique way to pick up and play Magic. By combining any two Jumpstart booster packs, you’ll create your own 40-card themed deck—and you’re ready to go. It’s a perfect way to quickly learn and play the game, or to teach new players. For this event, players will get 4 packs, selected randomly from all of Jumpstart candidate sets.

Fri/Sat/Sun,    all day, all CON - Daily sealed league - This event lasts all day. Sets are different each day: Friday - $45 Foundations, Saturday - $45 Dragonstorm, Sunday - $70 Final Fantasy. Play as much or as little as you like, using the contents of just your prerelease kit. Players have no time limit to open their 6 play packs of cards + plus a sweet foil promo, and build a 40-card (minimum) deck. Once you finish a match, you can change opponents and play again. Play and rules enforcement are casual. Lands will be provided by the organizer. Bring or buy sleeves if you like. Everyone wins 100 tickets for playing. For each round won beyond the first, they also get 100 tickets up to a max of 400 tickets per day.

Fri/Sat/Sun,    starts an hour after open, all CON - Fire on demand win-a-box – play with your friends or make new ones. As soon as we have 8 players signed up, we will give you your draft product, plus the box that goes to the winner. Players draft their decks and then play single-elimination rounds until there is a winner. Zulu’s will have multiple sets and price points to choose from, including: Modern Horizons III, Ravnica Remastered, Commander Masters, The Lord of the Rings, Dominaria Remastered, Double Masters 2022, Modern Horizons II, Commander Legends, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Aetherdrift, and Foundations

2:00 pm-6:30 pm - Draft Mystery Booster 2 $60 - Let chaos reign! Mystery 2 boosters bring a unique twist to every game with a mix of cards that makes every draft different. In this world of surprises, you never know what you could open. Each pack averages 2+ rares pulled from across all of Magic's 30-year history, and because there are over 1700 cards in the pool, it's very unlikely that you'll see any duplicates. Oh, and there are test cards, which are unique to Mystery drafts. With new borders and frames, you'll be tempted to rare draft! Whatever you do, it'll be fun. Players get 3 packs to draft from and then 20 minutes to build a 40-card (minimum) deck. We'll then play three rounds of Swiss pairing (meaning you play against folks with similar win/loss records).  Everyone wins 100 tickets for playing. 3-0 1000 tickets.  2-x 500 tickets

2:30 pm-6:30 pm - FINAL FANTASY Sealed $70 – Players will get 6 packs and have 30 minutes to build a 40-card (minimum) deck, then play 3 rounds of Swiss.  Drawing from every mainline FINAL FANTASY game—from FINAL FANTASY to FINAL FANTASY XVI—the set captures everything that fans of the franchise love.
Everyone wins 100 tickets for playing. 3-0 1000 tickets.  2-x 500 tickets

10:00 am-2:00 pm - VIP FINAL FANTASY Sealed with prerelease kits $70 – This exclusive, early access event is our thank you to our VIP ticket holders. Players will get prerelease kits and have 30 minutes to build a 40-card (minimum) deck, then play 3 rounds of Swiss. Drawing from every mainline FINAL FANTASY game—from FINAL FANTASY to FINAL FANTASY XVI—the set captures everything that fans of the franchise love.  Everyone wins 100 tickets for playing. 3-0 1000 tickets.  2-x 500 tickets

12:00 pm-7:00 pm - MH3 Limited sealed full day event $70- the power level of this straight to Modern set is near the top. Allied fetch lands return alongside power-packed new cards like double-faced Planeswalkers you're sure to flip for. Players get 6 draft packs to open and keep, and then 30 minutes to build a 40-card (minimum) deck. We’ll then play up to five rounds of Swiss pairing (meaning you play against folks with similar win/loss records) to reach the top 8. They will then draft new decks and play untimed finals rounds. Lands will be provided by the organizer. Bring or buy sleeves if you like. Everyone wins 100 tickets for playing. 400 tickets go to the prize pool per person.  Final pricing depends on attendance

10:30 am - 5:00 pm - Mega Chaos - Draft champs $70 – Mega Chaos format is one of Zulu’s most popular events. Players are seated randomly and snake-draft their packs from an eye-popping assortment provided by the organizers. Mega means there will be at least 8 collectors’ boosters in each pod! Once players have their packs, they will draft them (in any order they like) and play 3 rounds of Swiss. The top 8 will redraft chaos again with Mystery booster 1 Mystery booster 2 and final fantasy play and play single elimination finals for the weekend’s grand prize (TBA) + bragging rights of being the Geekfest draft champion + 5000 tickets.  2nd gets 3000 tickets (unless you split then you both get pokemon playmats) rest of the top 8 get 1000 tickets each. Everyone who participates will get 100 tickets.

1:30 pm-5 pm - LotR mini-masters $45 – 4 packs sealed with the first 2 packs, Play, and the second 2 are set boosters. Journey with familiar Middle-earth favorites there and back again, filled with valor, courage, and a second breakfast. Being tempted with power is awesome! Yes, this was Magic's most popular set... before FINAL FANTASY came out. And for good reason! Expect big things from humble beginnings! Players start with a play booster and three lands of each color. Shuffle them together without looking and play. Then players add a play pack, look at their cards, and build a 30-card minimum deck. For round three, they get a Set pack and rebuild to a 40-card minimum deck. For the 4th and final round, we’ll add another Set pack. Tix based on rounds won! Everyone wins 100 for playing. For each round won beyond the first, they also get 100 up to a max of 400.
